I am presently in Hollywood, watching TV with a small dog sleeping on my butt. I got here at midnight on Wednesday night. Or Tuesday morning if you want to be all my mother about it. I live here now, according to me (but don’t ask the post office — they have their own ideas.) I have spent the last 3 days vacillating wildly between unfounded optimism and throat-clutching dread. I have practically chewed my lips off with worry. How am I going to find and apartment? Buy a car? Get a job? Live a life?
Dan and his dog waited up for me to get home from the airport my first night. The next night Emily put me up on her stand-up show, where Jocelyn pep-talked me and helped me with a bit I’ve been working on. Friday, Baron dragged me out of bed to breakfast and then Greg spent 2 hours walking around Los Feliz looking for apartments with me. Thomas sent me apartment listings and talked me through leasing a car. Dave acted as designated-dad for some real estate tire kicking. I’m not going to fall.
I’ve got no idea what I’m going to do here, but for now I’m feeling really ok about it — happy to just be in Hollywood, watching TV with a small dog sleeping on my butt.

In life, we take chances. We play the perpetual lottery, betting on ourselves, and our skills to survive. Every journey has a beginning and everyone has to start somewhere to achieve their dreams and ultimate happiness. Stand tall. You believe in yourself to make the leap into the unknown, and be proud that you are surrounded by friends, who can give you a helping hand in getting settled in Hollywood. Congratulations on your new adventure. I for one am rooting for you!

I feel you, sister. Just landed in Omaha (?!?) in October and while I am still comfortable with my decision, reality is creeping in. Need to get a doctor, find an agency to help me with finding work and still dealing with lingering stuff from Detroit that trailed me here.
Being okay with my choice is huge. I like where I am and it IS the spot where I take my next leap off the cliff. You are in Hollywood, pretty and funny, so you have to do what you KNOW you can do. You are beautiful, creative, smart and you come across well through the camera. Looking forward to watching you do a bit on a comedy show or see you in your regular role on the telly.
You got that charisma, like David Lee Roth in his video!! You go girl and remember– just do the vodoo that you do so well!!
Good to know your butt is covered.
I remember one of the first music improv workshops I ever took with you. We (the students) were all so scared! Four of us were up in front of the class, VERY nervously and timidly improvising a song for the first time (TERRIFYING!), when from the sidelines, you raised your arms, shook your fists in the air, and excitedly cheered, “You’re doing it!!!” Well, I’d like to shake my fists and cheer for YOU now because guess what — YOU’RE DOING IT
