Fight War, Not Love.

With all the things that are right with California — sunshine, Coffee Bean frozen drinks, Laurie Metcalf — there are still some screwed up things. Most notably Prop 8 and Ken Starr’s new campaign to forcibly divorce all the 18,000 same-sex couples married from May to November of last year.

This video is basically a montage of photos of people who have finally found the person that fits and makes them feel like they are who they are supposed to be, and are now being told that that is abnormal and wrong. It makes it very clear that with all the fucked up things in the world that we need to fight against, people being in love with each other isn’t one of them. I suppose some people must see these images as wrong or unnatural, but honestly I cannot imagine how — and I am pretty good at imagining.

So this video isn’t for those people. It is for the rest of us who need to be reminded of how important it is to keep this issue at the forefront and do everything we can to put things right. For instance by going here and signing this petition.

Thank you for this, Eliza. Us gays can fight the long, hard, unending battle for equality, but it is when our straight counterparts stand up for us that the message really starts to get out there. Thank you.

Thanks for making me cry at work. This was really beautiful.
