YAT — the Year of Awesome Things, in which I do something totally awesome every week.

Ok, I still have not learned any skateboarding or trapeze tricks, but I did some pretty awesome stuff none the less. This week was particularly Glennis-heavy, since we had work stuff to do and also look good together:
Impromptu Karaoke Party — Glennis just started bartending at the best Karaoke bar in NYC — Planet Rose (don’t challenge me on this — I am a junkie & have been everywhere for Karaoke. PR wins.) Last Tuesday I sent out emails to friends demanding that they come sing with me and support GMac, that night. I didn’t have a lot of hope for it, since it was so last minute, but tons of people showed! It was crazy fun, and very late, and I found out that Baron Vaughn & I sing a mean Endless Love. Expect to find me here on most Tuesdays from here on out.
Fancy Hotel Bars — I have started what I hope to be a habit of drinking in fancy hotel bars. I figure the up side of being a grown up is I get to go to swanky grown up joints now. To this end, Glennis and I had writing meetings at Sir Harry’s in the Waldorf Astoria and Blue Bar at The Algonquin. Guys — these places are the bomb! The bartenders let you sit around drinking diet cokes as long as you want and never give you the stink eye. They will also give you whole glasses of olives if you want, and apparently the woman next to us at Sir Harry’s did. Plus when they call you “Ladies” they mean it. And they’re fucking right!
Businessy TV Meeting — I get the feeling it’s gouche to write too much about industry meetings, but it’s also pretty awesome to have one. Either way, Glennis and I did and neither of us threw up on anyone, so mission accomplished!
Truly Outrageous Costume — I got my costume for the live-active Jem And The Holograms show!* I am playing Pizazz, the leader of the Misfits, and our costume designer has built my whole outfit just for me! I get to skulk and scream at Glennis (who will be playing Jem — seriously, I know…we see a LOT of each other) in an original and hilariously accurate spandex get-up, second only to the even more hilariously accurate spandex outfit being worn by Jeff Hiller as Synergy.

*The show debuts at 7pm on Monday June 25rd at the UCBTheater.…

Glad you’re back at the Algonquin and the Waldorf– my old hangouts in the 1950s-70s. (Now you’ll never go again…)
HA HA, Jeff as Synergy — awesome!
I cannot wait to see this show.
